Linux Distributions

Linux is a free Unix-type operating system originally created by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world. Developed under the GNU General Public License , the source code for Linux is freely available to everyone.

There are several Linux Distributions (collections of Linux/GNU-related software) available on the net.

This page gives information about these various Linux Distributions.

A good starting point for news, comparisons and more detailed information about distributions is distrowatch.com.

You can download CD images (aka ISOs) of distributions from linuxiso.org.

General information about Linux can be found at www.linux.org.
