I'm not so sure about the ACPI. From my experience, ACPI (as of 2.6.14.4) doesn't work with 600E very well. There seems to be a problem with interrupts, meaning I can't get pcmcia cards to work. And this is a constant issue, across many different kernels and two different debian installations.
