* Kernels newer than 2.6.8 require <tt>pci=noacpi</tt> set on the boot line, otherwise the system will hang during boot after attempting to disable IRQ #15.  Setting <tt>irqpoll</tt> as suggested by the kernel before it hangs can cause very slow boots and loss of the DVD drive.  Tested on Ubuntu.

Specific installation notes for the ThinkPad R30.

General Notes

  • Kernels newer than 2.6.8 require pci=noacpi set on the boot line, otherwise the system will hang during boot after attempting to disable IRQ #15. Setting irqpoll as suggested by the kernel before it hangs can cause very slow boots and loss of the DVD drive. Tested on Ubuntu.
