I have been using Thinkpads now for quite some time and have fallen in love with them. I started out with a 760, then used a 240x, and now use a T23. The machines are wonderfully built and my luck with them has been quite good.

One note regarding the 3 year worldwide warranty is that you have to truly argue with the local IBM office in order for them to honor it. In Brazil they initially denied providing any service under the warranty as the machine was not "imported and sold within Brazil." This was resolved upon making a formal complaint to the United States. Thereafter the unit was serviced without further questioning although it did require an initial fight to get around the local IBM bureaucracy.
