GCC Optimization Flags

You should use the following if you have a Mobile Pentium III:

-Os -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe

Enable L2 cache

When using a Pentium III MMC2 module in 600E, one needs to activate the L2 cache with the help of a kernel module. See also this post
