		+	I have been having this strange problem with the closed source ATI proprietary fglrx drivers. I was using Fedora core 6, but now have installed Feisty i386. I installed the restricted ati driver, but upon reboot my computer screen goes blank at the GDM login screen and the system freezes. ie. All activity stops. Basically X server hardlocks as I am unable to switch to any console also by pressing ctrl+alt+F4/5 etc.

The older versions (till 8.32.5) work fine with the same method of install and i even get DRI (was using XGL+Beryl in FC6 with 8.32.5 on default 2.6.18 kernel). I have tried many distros (OpenSuse 10.2, Fedora Core 6 (newer kernels from 2.6.19 onwards), Fedora 7, Debain, and Ubuntu 7.04 now) in vain, and all fglrx drivers till 8.37.6, but the same problem recurs in all.

		+	I installed fglrx 8.20.8 on SuSE 10.0 with kernel 2.6.13 on T43 and fglrx 8.24.8 on Ubuntu 5.10 with kernel 2.6.12 on T40. On both systems, emacs works well with "-nw" option. However, in the first system, emacs doesn't respond to any key stroke when started with GUI interface, but it works well with "emacs -font fixed". In the second system, Emacs displays all characters as empty rectangles and responds to all key strokes althouth they are illegible. If I use the xorg.conf before fglrx was installed, then emacs works perfectly. I doubt that the problem is caused by the font. But it stays there even if I use the same fontpaths under section "Files".

		+	o If I log out of kde to kdm/ or the login, everything goes black, even Alt+Ctrl+F1 does not work.<br> It is not locked up as Ctrl+Alt+Del does a proper restart.
		+	o The other problem is on the second monitor the screen boundary is not right. <br> Putting the mouse to the bottom cause a vertical blur. <br> As long as the mouse is not at the bottom of the second screen all is well.
