There's a couple of patches flying around between [http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/554569 launchpad] and the [http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27471 upstream bug tracker] but I eventually found the patch that worked [http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27471#c29 here]. I just grabbed the latest ubuntu kernel source, patched it, then ran:<br /> <br /> &lt;code&gt;<br /> fakeroot debian/rules clean<br /> <br /> fakeroot debian/rules binary-generic<br /> &lt;/code&gt;<br /> <br /> And installed the deb package it created.<br /> <br /> To get the installer to work, you need to pass the following arguments to the boot parameters:<br /> <br /> &lt;code&gt;xforcevesa i915.modeset=0&lt;/code&gt;<br /> <br /> That will also add the option to /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf so be aware of that once you fix it with the patch above.
