== MergedFB messes up LCD screen ==

When I try to used any MergedFB configuration, my laptop screen goes crazy. I can see from the screen and the Xorg logs that the second monitor is setup and the mergedfb is active, but the laptop screen is completely unreadable, even when I switch back to the VTs in text mode. The screen is just a blur of colors. This happens no matter what the mergedfb size is. My system is a T41 (2373-7FU) with Radeon 7500 M7 LW.

Xinerama works just fine, but of course there is no direct rendering.

Sounds like a refresh rate issue. Try the xorg.onf snippet in [[ATI Mobility Radeon X300]].

Turning HyperZ on really increases my OpenGL speed (we're talking, some 1200 FPS in gears to 1600 FPS on an A31p/FireGL 7800). Since it's in /etc/drirc and not in the xorg.conf, this probably isn't the place to put that. Start a new entry for DRI options or something?

21.02.2006: The [http://churchofjim.org/sources/lt_hotswap-0.2.0.tar.gz lt_hotswap-0.2.0] kernel module has been released for hot-swapping drives w/full DMA support -- should work on any laptop with hot-swappable bays + ACPI support.

17.02.2006: ThinkWiki has been upgraded to MySQL 5.0.16, PHP/5.1.2 and Apache 2.0.55 for better performance.
