Laptop in question is T500, type: 2082, model: 6MG

It is equipped with M86M Hybrid 256Mb.
It means that it have two cards and chip used to switch between them.
The one called "integrated" card is Intel graphic card, and the one called "discrete" is ATI graphich card. If you want to use either one on Linux, you will have to disable switching between them and chose which one you want to use.
I chose "discrete" because I need 3D acceleration for gamming.

I am using Fedora 8 with 2.6.26.6 kernel and fglrx, version 8.542-2.8.10.

"Discrete" graphich card is "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650".

You can get working X display by using either usual "vesa" driver (no 3D accel.) or proprietary ATI "fglrx" driver (3D accel. is working excelent).

'''My configuration'''

You can get working X display using either usual "vesa" driver (no 3D accel.) or proprietary ATI "fglrx" driver (3D accel. is working excelent).
In both cases you will not be very happy since in both cases the best you can get is resolution of 1280x800 pixels which looks ugly and almost unusable. :-(

At the moment (2008-12-13) there are no drivers from ATI with complete support for this graphics card although it seems that chip is supported by fglrx:

''(--) Chipset Supported AMD Graphics Processor (0x9591) found''

In logs of a X server fglrx driver outputs these messages regarding the graphich card:

''(--) fglrx(0): Chipset: "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650" (Chipset = 0x9591)

(--) fglrx(0): (PciSubVendor = 0x17aa, PciSubDevice = 0x2117)

(--) fglrx(0): board vendor info: third party graphics adapter - NOT original ATI''

So, no support from ati at this moment and cerainly no support from Lenovo.

'''Conclusion'''

If you are using Linux, avoid laptop with this kind of graphichs or you will wait support for undefined amount of time.
