Bugs
When the Modem is disabled in BIOS, the alsa driver doesn't work reliably. On a Debian etch system, the symptom is: doing alsaconf, everything is properly detected, and speaker-test works right. After reboot, speaker-test will result in errors and no sound is heard. If Modem is enabled, then there are no such odd results.
