Battery charge connector

I have an X200 Ultrabase with a Thinkpad X200. I can charge my 4-cell battery with the second battery connector, but sometimes not my 9-cell battery. With the 9-cell battery, the battery LED blinks red. I have to connect the battery really fast to make it work.
