I switched from the xorg graphics driver to the official ATI one. My glxgears speed is much improved and general screen refresh is much better. IBM Thinkpad T42. ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (M10) graphics. 1400x1050 Fedora Core 4. xorg-x11-6.8.2 ATI 8.25.18 graphics driver for Linux I switched from the xorg graphics driver to the official ATI one. My glxgears speed is much improved and general screen refresh is much better. All in all I am happy with the switch EXCEPT: When I first start Thunderbird the screen goes black and stays black. If I <alt ctrl F1> then <alt ctrl F7> back then the display is OK. Every time. Also, Lotus Notes running in Crossover Office does this but I don't want to throw in a red herring.
