Installing openSUSE 11.3 on an X61 Tablet

Overview

I have downloaded the DVD image and used it to prepare a bootable USB memory stick from which openSUSE 11.3 can be installed.

The following works out of the box:

• graphics with desktop effects
• sound

For the following, one needs to modify the configuration by hand:

• wireless networking

Finally, modifications (as root) to some configuration files are required for:

• Wacom stylus (tablet)
• changing the behaviour of the special keys on the tablet
• installation from USB memory
