==About me==
I'm an unix system administrator, mainly focused at BSDs and Linux. I use my Thinkpad for both, work and free time and while I'm off-duty, I [http://iccl.fi/ draw comics] and write anything from short stories to novels. I love taking my Thinkpad with me to various places to help me find the inspiration I need when writing. Most of the places are very remote, so I really appreciate the long battery life the high power battery and optimized power usage in Linux provide me.

I've been a friend of alternative OSes since I got my first computer at 1985. I've run TOS, OS/2 and now Linux as my primary operating system. I don't actually have any Microsoft products in use at all. Most of my experience with servers comes from FreeBSD or NetBSD-systems, but my real area of expertice is desktop linux in both corporal and home use.

I have this Port replicator and was wondering if the '''DVI''' port is incompatable with my system.
I have Thinkpad R40 2722-BBG.
Thanks,
----
There is almost no documentation on which systems support DVI, and which do not.

If I where to guess, I would say no, but the best way to find out is to simply attach a DVI display and see if it works.

If you find out, either way, let us know.
----
Does anybody know anything about the compatibility to '''Linux''' in general? Does anything work without problems?

Is it really compatible with the '''R52''' (1860), it's not listed on the IBM/Lenovo website [[http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&storeId=10000001&langId=-1&dualCurrId=73&categoryId=2581897&productId=8581830]].

Thank you

No problem whatsoever with '''T41''' and this replicator in '''Linux'''. I have most of the ports in use, except DVI.
== Limitations of video signal output ==

Apparently, some thinkpad port replicators II and some thinkpads don't play well with the video signal when connected.

This is '''not''' a general problem of all thinkpads and all port replicators, so I have removed the only report so far to the talk page. Please update the topic, and when we get some sort of idea of what is affected by what, we can update the main page.

Screen resolution restricted to 640x480 when attached to the port replicator. Without, 1024x768 (on a T40 2373-12G) possible.
